Book Review: Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis

Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis

Bat Ye’or – Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, Madison * Teaneck, NJ, 2005, 384 pp.

“This book describes Europe’s evolution from a Judeo-Christian civilization, with important post-Enlightenment secular elements into a post-Judeo-Christian civilization that is subservient to the ideology of jihad and the Islamic powers that propagate it. The new European civilization in the making can be called a “civilization of dhimmitude.”

Eurabia bookThe author sums up the topic of the scholarly work in the second paragraph of her preface, partially quoted above.

Throughout the book she provides a road map of the conversion of Europe, beginning with General Charles DeGaulle’s hurt feelings by not being made part of the post WWII discussions with Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin.

Because of that, he decided to establish a counterpoint to the United States by working to align France and the rest of Europe with Arabia, called the Europe Arab Discussion.

She outlines the content of meetings that brought the countries of the European Union to have almost open borders with “the South,” as North Africa and Arabia are referred to in formal documents.

The author explains how the agreements and exchanges were almost a one-sided affair – Europe shipped money and technology to the South, and the South sent immigrants.

Now those immigrants are demanding Sharia law and protection for Islam and the EU countries are acquiescing (exhibiting dhimmitude) for fear of terror attacks on their soil.

This book is well-written in English by a writer whose native writing language is French. It reads like a history book and is extremely well documented. For those of us who worry about the influx of Muslims into the United States and what could result, it is an absolute necessary read.

bat+Ye'orBat Ye’or is a pseudonym of Gisèle Littman, née Orebi, an Egyptian-born (1933) British writer and political commentator who writes about the history of Middle Eastern Christian and Jewish dhimmis living under Islamic governments.

Her three major books translated from French are: The Dhimmi: Jews and Christians under Islam (1985), The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam: From Jihad to Dhimmitude (1996), and Islam and Dhimmitude: Where Civilizations Collide (2002).

Disclaimer: the web site www.loonwatch.com calls her an “Anti-Muslim loon with a crazy conspiracy theory…” You decide for yourself.
