VIDEO: University of Central Florida speaker compares Israelis to Neanderthals

UCF Becoming Known As Jihad U?

SHEIKH JAFFER LADAK

On November 17, 2012, the Ahlul-Bayt Islamic Society, a newly formed student organization at the University of Central Florida, invited Sheikh Jaffer Ladak to speak on Islam and Anthropology.

As posted on a group page set up on FaceBook:

The mission of Ahlul-Bayt Society is to support and promote the teachings of Islam through the Holy Qur’an as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the members of his household known as the Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them all).

At one point in his address to students, Ladak compared Israelis to Neanderthals prompting the predominately Muslim audience to laugh out loud.  To many Muslims, the term ‘neanderthal’ is a direct Qur’anic reference to Allah turning Jews into Apes and, when looked at in this light, is seen as a brutal racist insult.

Ladak appeared to be well aware of how offensive his comment was to Israelis and Jews because he followed his statement by articulating why he did not want his comments recorded.

The anti-Semitic tone to Ladak’s lecture is troublesome.  That it occurred on the campus of a publicly funded university adds to the concern.  That this is not an isolated incident and looks to be a continuation of some questionable decisions by Muslim student organizations on who’s being invited to speak to students has some local residents now referring to UCF as Jihad U.

Questionable decisions that date as far back as 2006.  Decisions such as the Muslim Student Association – created by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1963, inviting radical Imam Siraj Wahhaj to speak on campus in February of last year.

Wahhaj was a character witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the “blind sheik” convicted of conspiring to bomb the World Trade Center in 1993.  Although Wahhaj was never charged, he was identified in a list of “unindicted persons who may be alleged as co-conspirators.”

Stephen Schwartz, executive director of the Center for Islamic Pluralism, a Washington-based think tank, said of Wahhaj:

“He’s a hatemonger, there’s no question about it.  He’s the No. 1 advocate of radical Islamic ideology among African-Americans. His stuff is very appealing to young Muslims who are on a radical path.”

Also, in November 2010 Dr. Jamal Badawi was a guest speaker at UCF.  Badawi is a former Board of Directors member of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States and a current member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

In 2004 Badawi issued a fatwa for Islam-online, outlining six different conditions in which a wife may properly be beaten according to his understanding of “Islamic teaching,” because, he stated, “there are cases … in which a wife persists in bad habits.”

Badawi played a part in a November 2004 fatwa by the International Union of Muslim Scholars decreeing that it was a religious “duty” for all able-bodied Muslims inside and outside Iraq to wage jihad against the American military.

Badawi is also an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case.

In today’s politically correct world, the Left are quick to level charges of Islamophobia against anyone drawing attention to actions by Muslim groups, however, with a questionable pattern of behavior such as this it’s reasonable for a community to be concerned.

In a report on the Wahhaj visit, Breitbart.com asks what will it take for UCF President Dr. John Hitt to understand the irresponsible and dangerous actions he continues to allow his university to take in giving terrorist supporters a platform.

And more importantly, asks where is the outrage from the UCF alumni? From the citizens of Central Florida?
