MI state law does not permit 'tuition equality'

The new “Undocumented Students at U-M” site created by student group “Coalition for Tuition Equality” provides information and resources specifically tailored to the needs of undocumented alien applicants. The site encourages application and enrollment of undocumented students, providing contact information for illegal aliens to more easily and efficiently complete the application process.

Gail Horalek, the mother of a seventh grader in Northville, has taken issue with the school district for using an unedited version of Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl, in the curriculum at Meads Mill Middle School. The message being sent to parents is clear: Keep your mouth shut when it comes to public school curriculum, unless you want to be fodder for an internet smear campaign.

MI Legislature wants to raise taxes for roads

Tuesday, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held hearings on three bills: House Bill 4358, 4359, and 4539. Supporters of increasing taxes and fees on Michigan residents were out in plenty; suit after suit appeared to testify in support of raising an additional $1.4-1.6 billion dollars in order to “Fix the Roads.”

More spending may not be the answer

Spending more money on state-run preschool through Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program is widely regarded as a wise “investment.” Unfortunately, preschool’s payoff isn’t nearly as predestined as proponents make it out to be, and a close review of the evidence suggests Great Start’s value to taxpayers is dubious.
